The activists of DAC were out today at 3pm leafleting pedestrians waiting for Scab busses to arrive during the strike.
Well done! I'm glad to see some pro-active Strike solidarity in this country! Seriously.
Last December 14 2007 we had a Strike Solidarity night at Közért Mozi. We had a international crowd and went around the room talking about how strike support happens in our different countries - Germany, France, UK, USA and Mexico and others were represented.
Some ideas were kicked around on how to support the MÁV strike the next day but little happened in the end. Plus, it was a bit disappointing to see that the strike only lasted a few hours then.
A lot has changed in a few months in Hungary and perhaps this is the beginning of some real Labour strength emerging in Hungarian politics. Today's strike and the recent petition drives for the healthcare referendum, such as TB Mentők - are all positive events - let's hope there is more like this in the future.

Ugh!! Watching CNN International describe the new revived Iraq War (as if the last one ever really ended) as a 'Religious War for Oil in Basra' is enough to make one cringe and get violent towards the TV set.
Me wonders if CNN would ever describe Bush's evangelical war on Iraq as a 'Religious War for Oil?' But why bother asking a question you already know the answer to!?
