Fotósorozat meggyilkolt Balogh Mária emlékére, temetése napján, augusztus 7.-én Deák téren tartott csendes megemlékezésről. Két óra alatt több százan jöttek el részvétüket és megdöbbenésüket kimutatni mécses-gyújtással, virágokkal.

The following is a photo series from the vigil in Budapest Hungary on August 7, 2009 for Mária Balogh, the Hungarian Roma/gypsy woman recently murdered at Kisléta. During the two hours a couple hundred had arrived to pay their respects to her memory and family and consider the meaning of her death for the times we live in....

Augusztus 2. éjszakáján a Szabolcs-Szatmár- Beregben lévő Kislétán ismeretlen tettesek brutálisan meggyilkolták Balogh Máriát, 13 éves lányát pedig életveszélyesen megsebesítették.

A rendőrség ezt a gyilkosságot a többi, romák elleni merényletek közé sorolja. Az elmúlt egy évben ismeretlen tettesek az ország különböző részein az éjszaka leple alatt támadtak rá roma családokra Molotov-koktélokkal, sörétes puskákkal.

A rendőrség mostani, kislétei gyilkosságnál is rasszista indítékot sejt.

Balogh Máriát holnap, pénteken temetik. Humanista Mozgalom csendes megemlékezést tart péntek este 18 és 20 óra között a Deák téren, a templommal szemben. Szeretnénk részvétünket és szolidaritásunkat kifejezni a meggyilkolt családjával és a roma közösséggel és megdöbbenésünknek hangot adni.

A Humanista Mozgalom teljes mértékben elítéli a rasszizmust és az erőszak minden formáját és küzd egy
erőszak-illetve diszkriminációmentes Magyarországért.
Kérjük, hogy mindenki hozzon magával egy szál virágot, illetve gyergyát, a demonstratív jelleget pedig mellőzzük.

On the night of 2 August in the village of Kisléta, the county of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Mária Balogh has been brutally murdered by unknown gunmen, her 13-year-old daughter has been critically injured.

The police considers this as the latest in the list of assasinations of Roma people. In the past year, the different parts of the country unknown gunmen have attacked Roma families with Molotov-coctails and pellet-guns in the middle of the night.

The police is looking for a racist motive for this murder in Kisléta as well.

Mária Balogh is buried tomorrow, on Friday. The Humanist Movement is holding a silent vigil opposite the church in Deák tér, between 18 and 20 on Friday. We want to express our sympathy and solidarity with the family of the murder victim and with the Roma community and to give voice to our indignation.

The Humanist Movement absolutely condemns racism and all forms of violence and stand up for a Hungary without violence and discrimination.
